A half-year note on lessons — 2021

I sense that I have done a lot of growing (mentally) in the past 3 or so years. I’ve always grown mentally but I sense myself becoming the person I see myself as. Or should I say accepting myself as the person I always was. I am no longer tied to the idea of one version of myself being the best, I am now accepting of my ever-evolving self. I believe I am dynamic, and that is a good thing. I will meet myself wherever I am, and accept that I am doing the best I can.

With that in mind, and seeing as I am creating a repository for my thoughts, here are 6 things I’ve learned in 2021.

Nobody asked for this, and in a way, that’s exactly why I am doing it.

  1. People don’t care — this is a good thing sometimes
  2. You have to continue to work through the crap you create to get better (this one is a reminder)
  3. Writing doesn’t need to have an audience, write for you the clarity of thought that comes with writing is for you first
  4. Being kind to yourself requires a lot of effort but trust me, you will get better at it
  5. Advocating for yourself is tough work, but you must do it
  6. Hold on to your people — make time for them, they are the ones who enrich your life and make it colourful

Happy half year
